Who Bobby Was
Robert "Bobby" Gomezjurado was a hardworking entrepreneur, devoted father, problem solver, and the kind of person who could always find a way to make things work. He was resourceful, independent, and constantly focused on creating opportunities for himself, his children, and those around him.
Like many small business owners, Bobby spent much of his time taking care of everything and everyone else. He often put his own needs last, including his healthcare. Without health insurance and faced with the daily demands of work and family life, routine checkups and preventive care were easy to postpone.
In April 2026, Bobby passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41 from hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. His loss was devastating to our family and became the inspiration behind the RGDS Heart Health Fund.
Our Family History
Heart disease is not a new story in our family. Our father also faced significant heart-related health challenges, including bypass surgery at a relatively young age before later passing away from heart failure.
While genetics are only one piece of the puzzle, family history can play an important role in cardiovascular health. Understanding your family's medical history, knowing your personal risk factors, and receiving regular medical care can help identify potential problems before they become life-threatening.
Bobby's passing serves as a reminder that heart disease can affect people earlier than many expect. Research has shown that cardiovascular disease often runs in families, and men frequently develop heart disease at younger ages than women. This makes awareness, screening, and preventive care especially important for individuals with a family history of heart disease.
The Meaning Behind the Logo
The logo of the RGDS Heart Health Fund was designed to reflect this mission and our family's story.
The heart represents the lives we hope to protect. The tree represents family, strength, and the generations connected through a shared history. The roots symbolize those who came before us, including our father, whose experiences remind us of the importance of prevention and awareness. The branches and leaves represent future generations and the hope that knowledge, early detection, and preventive care can change lives.
The logo serves as a reminder that while family history may influence our future, awareness and preventive care can help change the outcome.
What RGDS Means
The name RGDS reflects Bobby's commitment to family and the future. During his entrepreneurial journey, Bobby incorporated a business using the initials of his children, Donovan and Sophia. The RGDS Heart Health Fund carries that legacy forward, honoring both Bobby's memory and the generations he cared so deeply about.
Just as the Fund's logo symbolizes family roots and future growth, the name RGDS serves as a reminder that the choices we make today can help protect and strengthen the lives of those we love most.
Looking Forward
The RGDS Heart Health Fund was created to promote heart health awareness, preventive care, and access to healthcare resources that may help identify serious health conditions before they become life-threatening.
Today, the Fund serves as a free educational resource dedicated to helping individuals and families better understand their risks, know their numbers, and take an active role in their health.
As the Fund grows, our goal is to establish a charitable program that will provide at least one annual preventive health screening or physical examination each year to an uninsured or financially struggling individual.
Our hope is simple: that one annual physical, one blood pressure screening, one conversation with a healthcare provider, or one early diagnosis may help change the course of someone's life.
By sharing Bobby's story, we hope to encourage others to understand their family history, seek preventive care, and take action before it is too late.
BECAUSE ONE SCREENING CAN SAVE A LIFE
